FOODS CONTAINING VITAMIN C
FOODS CONTAINING VITAMIN C
In the national food composition database, the average vitamin C content of some fruits per 100 grams is as follows;
Orange | 45 mg |
Kiwi | 60 mg |
Strawberry | 75 mg |
Ananas | 59 mg |
Lemon | 42 mg |
Apart from the foods consumed as fruits, foods such as bell peppers, broccoli, parsley, cauliflower, peas, tomatoes, which are in the vegetable category, are also rich in vitamin C.
The average amount of vitamin C contained in 100 grams of these food samples is as follows;
Bell pepper | 100 mg |
Broccoli | 107 mg |
Parsley | 188 mg |
Cauliflower | 45,3 mg |
Peas | 28 mg |
Tomato | 19,8 mg |
Although the fruits and vegetables that we frequently consume on our tables are rich in vitamin C content, the types of these foods and the growing conditions affect the nutrients. Again, since it is impossible to consume a large amount of these fruits and vegetables in order to reach the 1000 mg of vitamin C that should be taken in case of deficiency, it is recommended to take vitamin C as a supplement when needed.
Vitamin C is a water-soluble vitamin and is not stored in the body, the excess can be excreted in the urine. Therefore, it does not cause any side effects by accumulating in the body. In addition, with 1000 mg of vitamin C taken as a supplement, a few fruits consumed with vitamin C can be used safely as they cannot reach high amounts.
